Three people died Monday morning following a pedestrian-involved crash on North Broadway at Cecil Avenue.

At 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026, Knoxville Police Department officers and Knoxville Fire Department personnel responded to a crash near the First Creek Greenway on North Broadway.

The preliminary investigation determined that a single vehicle was traveling northbound on North Broadway when, for reasons that remain under investigation, it struck a light pole and then two pedestrians on the east bank sidewalk of First Creek Greenway. The vehicle veered off the west bank of First Creek and rolled down the embankment several times.

The two pedestrians and the driver died at the scene.

The crash is being investigated by KPD crash reconstruction personnel. That investigation remains ongoing.
